With a Pro D Day on Friday, our boys were able to get 4 fantastic action packed days in Ontario and Quebec while only missing one day of school. Although this may sound like a small detail, it’s also an important one for a group of serious students who are all steadily working on GPA’s which will get them into their schools of choice.

Calling the Split Second community to come out to War Memorial Gym on October 28th to watch the UBC Thunderbirds and cheer on Cobra coach Luka Lizdek as he battles the SFU Red Leafs in the Buchanan Cup.

It was great to see so many players (and parents) out yesterday at the Post Secondary Prep Session to learn the INS and OUTS of what it takes to play at the next level. It was a special opportunity for young athletes to hear the stories of how each of the panelists navigated their own path…and how different each of these journeys really were. The stories ranged from Walk-On to Full Ride Scholarship offer and from Prep School, CCAA to Division 1 recruit.

But the reality is that teams will not always be able to find a lay up opportunity every single offensive possession and at times we have to settle for outside shots (luckily for us, we practice outside shooting a ton at Split Second - so we like these shots, too ;)

At Split Second we want to increase our highest percentage shots any chance we get - and the game situation we can do this most is during well-executed fast breaks. Sprinting the floor is by far the single biggest contributor….

You will not find P.J.’s name in the record books for points scored, made threes or any other statistical categories. P.J. has never been an all-star, has never won any individual accolades, but is still on every organization’s wish list every off-season when Free Agency comes around, for 2 reasons……
