Our team is aligned around a mission of helping young athletes find their path through sport. If basketball has had an impact in your life and you’re passionate about helping others find their path, we’re always looking to add to the Split Second team.
The Split Second team is made up of full and part-time coaches, as well as volunteer Jr. Coaches. We look for energetic, enthusiastic and reliable coaches who combine a strong knowledge of the game with a humility that comes from understanding how much more we have to learn.

Resident Coaching Position

Resident Coach Role
Coaching = 20 hours/week
Admin/Communication = 2-3 hours/week
Coaching Development = 2-3 hours/week
Split Second’s Resident Coaching position is intended for up and coming coaches who are serious about the coaching profession and want to start their own coaching journey. This position will obtain valuable on court coaching experience, learn from professional coaches and receive educational and practical instruction through Split Second’s training and development system.
In this role, you will train a variety of players from young beginners to top high school players and will be asked to take on a large coaching role of 20-30 hours per week. This position is a paid position on a stable, short to medium term contract with advancement opportunities within Split Second and opens the door to future career opportunities within the Coaching profession.

Qualifications Include
3+ years of coaching experience
Coaching and/or playing experience at a high level
Ability to work with players of all ages and genders
Ability to coach up to 25 hours/week and work in an off court administrative capacity
Part Time Coaches

Do you have a passion for basketball and want to give back by helping youth players develop, have fun and learn valuable life lessons? Split Second Basketball has flexible opportunities for Regular Part Time Coaches to coach anywhere from 3-20 hours per week in a paid part time role.
Split Second is looking for Coaches who are responsible, energetic, have a desire to teach basketball and can coach on a consistent basis in a regularly scheduled program. We have opportunities for Part Time Coaches to both lead and assist training sessions.

Summer Coaching Program
Coach and train.
Split Second Basketball is committed to improving the culture of basketball training in BC to help all players reach the peak of their potential. This includes our players AND our coaches. The Split Second Summer Coach Program provides opportunities for post-secondary and professional players to coach and train at Split Second Basketball during July and August. Coach Split Second summer programs for 25+ hours per week and get gym time to train on your own and play in competitive runs with other coaches, university and professional players each week.
Our Summer Coaching Position is a great opportunity for post-secondary and professional players to coach the up-and-coming generation, be involved in a great personal training environment and earn some money being a part of the basketball culture in BC. Jr Coaching Program
As a Jr Coach, you will:
Have a role as an assistant coach where you will shadow and assist experienced SSB coaches
Receive instructions and feedback on your coaching and take part in coaching seminars
Receive a Split Second coaching shirt
Receive credit for school volunteer hours and the opportunity to get a reference letter
