Cobra Girls Grades 6-8
ABOUT COBRA TEAMS U12-U14
Split Second Basketball’s Cobra Club Teams are intended for competitive and committed players with a focus on Long Term Athletic Growth and Learning to Play the Right Way. We aim to support players in their path through life by providing an environment that teaches players the value of hard work, commitment, and team. We believe through strong culture and good coaching that on court improvement is a byproduct.
Evaluation Process: Cobra teams are select teams comprised of players who have been identified through Skills Training Classes, Leagues, Club Teams and SSB Evaluations.
The best way to find out if the Cobra Program is the right fit for you is through our SSB Evaluations. We have our Evaluations in September for the Fall/Winter Season and in March for our Spring Season.
We ask that anyone who is interested in playing on a Cobra Team come to the SSB Evaluations where we can help find the best fit for each players long term development.
Season: The Cobra U12-U15 (Grades 6-8) Teams have 2 distinct seasons.
Fall/Winter Season - September through February
Spring Season - April through June
Schedule: Cobra U12-U14 (Grades 6-8) Teams train 3 times per week and play in competitive leagues and tournaments throughout the season.
“What you get by achieving your goal is not as important as what you become by achieving your goal.”
— Henry David Thoreau
“Split Second is a club that is great all around. The coaching and training that they offer allows all the player the option to training and improve their skills and development. I have seen huge improvements in my daughter as a player and continue to see her abilities grow. Very friendly and fun environment for the kids while striving for that competitive edge”

FAQs
How do I become a Cobra?
Please see the information above. For any further questions, contact Novell Thomas at Novell@splitsecondbasketball.com for any inquiries.
Can I play multiple sports while in the Cobra program?
Yes, in fact we encourage multi sport athletes and are okay with them missing a Cobras session to accommodate other important sporting events as long as they make every effort to attend our sessions when possible.
What if I can't make practice?
We expect players on the Cobra teams to be committed to their individual and team development. This means players need to make every practice they can and prioritize their Cobra training. However, because we support mulit-sport athletes, we recognize that players will miss some sessions. If a player can not make at least 80% of practice and games, this must be communicated to the coaches during tryouts.
What if I can’t continue in the program?
We are looking for players who are committed for the entire season. However, if circumstances dictate that a player can no longer continue in the program, players will be charged up to and including the calendar month after they give written notice of withdrawal. The remaining months of the season will not be charged. No refunds will be given for upfront deposits/costs such as gear or tournament fees. Any players who have prepaid for the whole season will be refunded by the same schedule as those on monthly payment plans.
What's included in program fees?
A gear package, coaching, gym rentals, insurance and all training sessions are included in the tuition. Game costs such as League or tournament entry fees, player and coaches hotels and travel to tournaments will be billed to families. New players, or returning ones who need a replacement uniform, must add-on a uniform to their registration through our League Apps software.
The tuition will consist of an initial non-refundable deposit and monthly payments of a few hundred dollars/month. If you are interested in a discounted lump sum payment option that saves on credit card fees, please contact Lesley@splitsecondbasketball.com
Can I play on another Club basketball team?
No. It does not work for players to be on multiple club teams. We encourage kids to play on their school team. Our goal is to make them strong, confident players on their elementary, high school, university, provincial, national and professional teams. However, playing on any other Club team creates difficulty for players in terms of their commitment, schedule, understanding systems, playing styles, culture and values. The Cobra program is designed to give players ALL the training, conditioning, skill development and games they need. However, if players are looking for extra training, as long as it is not in a “club team” environment, there is no problem getting individual training outside of Split Second. Feel free to check with Split Second coaches first to see what additional training options we have available for players. If you would like a more in-depth explanation of our rationale or need clarification on whether something is a “club” team, please contact Eric Butler at eric@splitsecondbasketball.com.
