ABOUT SSB ACADEMY TEAMS

The Split Second Academy Program is a team based program designed to give young athletes the opportunity to learn individual skills and team concepts from great coaches in a competitive, flexible and supportive environment.

This program is intended for good athletes with a focus on long term development who want to improve their skills, have fun playing in a team environment while also having the flexibility to do other sports and activities.

Evaluation Process: SSB Academy teams are comprised of players who attend SSB Evaluations. We have our Evaluations in September for the Fall/Winter Season and in February/March for the Spring Season.

Through this process, SSB will help players find the most appropriate program for their long term development such as Academy Teams, Cobra Teams, Skills Training, league and more.

ACADEMY LEAGUE STANDINGS

Without proper movement and spacing, basketball can be slow, ugly, and really difficult to score. However, with good coaching, teamwork and systems in place, it can be a beautiful fluid game. Academy players learn the fundamental movement concepts that help them contribute to every team they play on.

SSB ACADEMY PROGRAM

Professional coaches follow a detailed season curriculum to teach:
- movement, spacing and push/pull concepts
- transition O and D
- defensive positioning and rotations
- decision making
Top quality courts/facilities
Uniform and team gear packages
Weekly games with professional referees

*Looking for even more? Academy players will have the option to add a weekend Academy Player Development session to get more time time for individual skill development.

Towards the end of the Spring season, players who excel in league games may be invited to an Academy Selects team which will enter a couple of club tournaments.

Seasons: Academy Teams have 2 distinct seasons.
